Miriam is a native Houstonian who has been active her entire life: first playing soccer at age five and continuing to play through her college years while also taking on running and weight training in high school! Her real passion, however, is rock climbing!
After getting her Bachelors degree in Geology, she had the opportunity to live overseas, in both Venezuela and Malaysia. While overseas, she travelled extensively, soaking in the many different cultures and types of foods available. While in Malaysia she volunteered with the UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency) where she taught science and math to underprivileged refugee children.
Once Miriam returned to the States, a friend introduced her to road biking. She has participated in the MS150 multiple times, one year acting as the team captain for her company’s team! Miriam has finished her ICG Level 1 and Level 2 I indoor cycle training and is pursuing her certification in Personal Training.
When she isn’t busy kicking butt, she works as a professional geologist on large-scale remediation projects. Miriam is a science junkie and takes fitness very seriously, engaging in learning the latest and greatest and continuing to pursue knowledge to help her students. Plus her spunk and attitude is infectious to all around her, making her classes exciting and fun. She is super excited to be a part of the Ascent family and cannot wait to have you join her in her classes!
